The Idea

Nature never rushes, and it certainly never apologises for being a little undone. The peony is the perfect reminder of this. It takes its absolute time to bloom, and when it finally does, it is a glorious, unkempt explosion of petals that refuses to be perfectly contained. I created this piece as a quiet rebellion against the pressure to be constantly curated. It is about the absolute freedom of letting go, finding breathtaking beauty in things exactly as they are, and holding onto a quiet sense of optimism even when life feels messy.

The Work

This piece leans heavily into raw intuition rather than rigid precision. I allowed the brushstrokes to remain loose and expressive, capturing the heavy, intoxicating bloom of the peonies in vibrant corals, deep magentas, and soft blush pinks. These warm florals are contrasted by sweeping, ethereal washes of teal and aqua blue that ground the canvas. If you look closely, you will see the joy of the unedited process: rebellious loops, raw textures, and the word "HOPE" quietly stamped into the lower left corner—a secret note left just for the collector.
